In 2002, the Ladies' Ministry of Oak Hill Baptist Church, Williamson, GA, began serving in a local prison for women. The ministry grew to encompass other prisons and jails and many volunteers. In 2017, the church prison ministry became Red Clay Ministries, Inc. in order to place all ministries to the Correctional Community, attract more volunteers, and to work with other churches to serve in all areas of the Correctional Community in Middle Georgia.
Today, Red Clay Ministries has over 50 volunteers. Twenty-six of the Red Clay Volunteers are certified by the Georgia Department of Corrections to go "inside" the state prisons to serve. Red Clay Ministries has expanded to serve prisoners, correctional staff and the children/families of inmates. The ministries of Red Clay serve the Correctional Community.
